Children with autism are beautiful, special, unique and some of them can have extraordinary abilities and a brilliant intelligence. Unfortunately, these children live in their own world, they cant communicate and relate with the ones around them and without special care they are at risk to be institutionalized and isolated. Children with autism dont suffer from a mental disease. They suffer from a severe neurobiological growing disorder that locks them in a world of their own which we hardly understand. The global statistics reveal an alarming incidence of the autism spectrum disorder: 1 of 166 children that is born every year according to The European Neuropsychiatry Congress in Barcelona. In Romania, the destiny of the children with autism is sealed by ignorance and indifference. Few specialists know how to diagnose this disease, centers for the therapy and the education of these children are just a few, the therapies that are considered efficient are very expensive and the parents of these children get minimum support from the authorities.
